Edinburgh Art Fair November 2010

Just finished this one that I have been working on all week but can't decide on a title yet, its a very busy one, just kept adding more as new thoughts came into my head whilst listening to many folk tracks in the main Beth Orton, Pieces of Sky such a lovely song perhaps she wouldn't mind if I used her title? However the main inspiration came from the walk at this Devon Cove where I took this photo on Monday. Looking at the two images together how did one get to the other that's my head for you!

Commissions

I have had a lot of requests for commissions over the past few months which is great and I'm pleased to say everyone has been more than happy with the results. These work if you provide me with around 10 key words, dates special thoughts etc and I can embed special materials (eg parts of an old dress etc) into the piece. I enjoy doing these are they are often treasured works I have recenttly done one for someones 18th and told the story of their life so far! I think working as an illustrator in the past has allowed me the skills to imagine a story and along with the keywords create a one off celebration piece not perhaps arty farty but more importantly very special. If you would like to discuss such a commission then please email me on craftycrocodile@yahoo.com or if you prefer you can contact Steam Gallery who deal with all my work on Telephone: +44 (0)1297 625144

My New Studio and me (my feet look a little large!)

Still getting to grips with the bits and Bobs of this new venture Blogging

Forgotten Faces in Far Off Places Acrylic in mixed Media
Give me a few weeks to get the hang of all this but I'm determined to get there!

Well Here Goes.............

Hopefully this blog spot will keep you updated on all the goings on in the little bubble of my head! Here is the first painting I have finished at my new studio, I'm quite sentimental about this one and so is someone else as it has sold! I just love the colours and the texture on this piece, I think it's the start to a new way of working. The composition is also quite interesting I worked long and hard to create a layered effect but also one that still held together as a whole. These works have just gone live on http://www.marinehouseatbeer.co.uk/catalog/artist.php?artistid=311&galleryid=22 it is so exciting and support has been great....... the opening of the show itself in realtime is 6th of November 2010 till the 19th of November 2010 at Marine House Gallery with over 40 new works. I will be there all day. Last year there was a good turn out and I was so tired after the day but well worth it to get the feedback.
